November 8, 2015 - Pumpkin Drop Contest at Essex Skypark

It's that time of the year again for the annual Essex Skypark Pumpkin Drop Contest and Get Together.  It's not a fly-in.  It's just an event amongst ourselves to have a good time without anyone having to spend a lot of effort.

My daughter Lucy brought her family out of the day.  The two little boys, William and Griffin, are admiring a Cessna.

Mugsy made a dramatic arrival overhead.

Parked on the ramp soon afterwards.

I was watching my other daughter Maggie's dog Riley today and brought her to the airport.  I'm training her to be an airport dog.

Since I can't drop a pumpkin out of my RV, I installed my rubber chicken launching device and would drop a rubber chicken instead.

Lots of planes out today at Essex Skypark.

A lot of socializing was going on.

William and I were judges for about half the drops.

As you might imagine, the AirCam is a superb platform from dropping pumpkins.

The AirCam even carries a Bombadier!

Chip's 172 inbound for a drop.

I successfully dropped my rubber chicken and was even leading the competition for a short time.  After the chicken drop I felt complelled to come back around for a couple of low high-speed passes, with smoke.
